Get help
For anything about the app or the website, your record or account, or to report a public passport, write to us. We reply in English or Japanese.
If something does not work, tell us your iPhone model, iOS version and what happened on which screen; it helps us look faster. Please do not send the photos themselves.
Common questions
What does photo access let the app read?
When and where each photo was taken, plus a few labels used to choose a cover photo (such as favourite), read on your iPhone. Photos never leave the phone, and nothing looks at what is in them. Hidden photos are not read.
If you allow selected photos only, only those photos are read. To change access later, open Stoodmark in the iPhone Settings app (under Apps on recent iOS), then Photos.
What is counted?
A country counts from photos taken in it. Photos taken in flight do not count (only the very first or very last photo, each time the app looks through your photos, may not be told apart from one taken in flight). A country seen only at the airport is shown as a transit and not counted unless you count it.
A World Heritage site becomes a find when photos were taken close to it, and it is sealed only when you choose it. Photos without a stored place cannot be matched; you can still add a site yourself with “I have stood here” on its page in the app.
How do I delete my account?
In the app, signed in: Passport tab, scroll to the bottom, “Account (optional)”, then “Delete account”. On the website: the account section of the Record tab.
Your email address, records, public passport and everything else stored in the account are deleted at once, and this cannot be undone. The record on your iPhone stays (see the next question).
How do I export or erase my data?
Export: on the website, “Export to a file” in the Record tab saves your record as a file. For a copy of what is in the app or stored in your account, email us.
Erase: in the app, “Erase all records on this phone” erases countries, seals and wishes on the iPhone (your photos are not touched). On the website, clearing the browser’s site data removes the record kept there. Deleting your account erases what the account stores. If you cannot do it yourself, email us.
What is a public passport?
Only if you sign in, choose a name and turn it on, stoodmark.com/@name shows the World Heritage sites you have stood in (with the year only) and your countries. It is off by default. It never shows photos, your home, months or days, and leaves out recent records.
You can turn it off at any time in the account section. If you find a public passport that breaks our terms, email us its name (the part after @). We hide it while we check.
